Christmas Party

We would like to invite everyone to our Christmas Party on the 19 of December.
We would like to celebrate the festive season together with some wonderful culinary explosions!In other words, please bring something to eat/drink/share this Sunday! It can be anything from Christmas cookies to salad to hot chocolate! Whatever you want to bring, we'll be happy to share with you :)

PS: There will be no Bible study on the 26 of December and the 2 of January! The next Bible study is on the 9 of January.

International Potluck!

As you know, we will be having International Potluck at the IBSG this Sunday!
Just as a reminder: please bring something to eat (preferably from your home country, but we're not fussy...anything that you want to bring is fine.)

This is an ideal opportunity to bring friends!! After all, who doesn't like good food and pleasant company? :)
It's World Prayer Day on the 14th of November, so we will also be having a special prayer session at the beginning.

Help for the "Orientierungstage"

Dear IBSG,
On the Tuesday and Wednesday, the 12th and 13th of October, at the international center on the corner by the Uni church, there will be orientation for new international students. The IBSG has alway been present to let people know that we are here and to invite them to come. It has never been a waste. This email is to ask 2 things:
1. Come to the International Center on one, or both of these days from 8:00 - 10:00 am to chat with new students and invite them to come.
2. We would like someone to make Fliers or a poster. IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE COMPLICATED: They just need to say who we are and when we meet. A contact would also be good and our web blog. We probably need 50-100 fliers (that's only 25 sheets of paper if the fliers are a quarter of a page). Poster can be printed from any copy shot. Just bring a USB stick with the data on it. Color is expensive, but black on colored paper is cheap. For colored fliers, the best thing is to print them at home if you have a colored printer. If you don't, and don't know anybody who does, you could email me and I will print them up. Please consider one of these and email Sonn if you will take a task: oseiassonn@yahoo.de.

IBSG goes Kieler Woche

This Sunday we are at the Kieler Woche. We will not be hosting something ourselves, but we will visit an International Church Service. The Service starts at 12:30 at the "Unser Norden" Stage (Germ. "Bühne"). We will find each other, if we just look around. The stage is big and perfessional looking. It is located at the end of the Förde on the Hörn. That means where the water stops. So if you go to the train station and go out the side by the water and turn right and keep walking along the water, you will eventually find it.
I hope that was understandable for everyone and I hope to see you there. Afterwards we have planned on singing as a group at the Kieler Woche. Not officially of course, but just out on the street having fun. See you then!

Bike Tour

Dear IBSG Friends,

This is a preliminary post to remind you that we are going to have a Bike Tour on the 13th of June (that's in about 9 days). There will be no Bible Study at the Church, but one on the road. Call it a lesson in pilgrimage. It seems that most of the important people in the Bible were travelers: Abraham, Moses, Esra, Paul, Jesus... we're just following in their footsteps.
Here is the information as of now: we will meet at the Church at 11:00 and probably head out to Schilksee, were we will meet up with Sonn, Oseias and hopefully my wife (it's a little difficult for her to ride so long;)).
I think we will also be grilling.
So important to know: 11 o'clock at the church with a bike on the 13th.

Grillin´and Chillin´

Dear Bible Students,
Sunday we are grilling in the Schrevenpark!
If you don't know where that is, be at the Church at 13.30 and Natascha will lead you there. If you know where it is, come to the grassy area and look for us. Sonn and Oseas will bring a sign, so you can look for that (if you come after them).

Here's what to bring:
1. Blanket
2. Food (everybody shares, unless you bring like filet mignion or something, sausages and things will be shared) and drinks
3. Friends
4. Something to eat off and with, like a plate, a fork and a knife
5. a jacket, because the weather man says it won't be that warm.
6. anything important that I forgot.

I am getting hungry already.

International Potluck

Dear IBSG,

This Sunday we will have an International Potluck. Everyone should bring something to eat that we can all share together. If you have no time to prepare something you can also buy juice or something else to bring.

We love international foods and would love to taste typical meals of your home country. Starter, main course, or dessert doesn't matter. We will praise our God and eat his blessings, even if we have 15 soups and nothing else!

And of course: Bring an appetite!

Planning Session

Next Wednesday, the 14th of april, we are having a planning meeting at Sonn´s house at 8 o´clock pm. I would like to encourage you to come and be involved in the planning of next semester. WE would love to know your ideas and it would be great to have more people actively involved int eh group.
Sonn lives in Schilksee and we can give you directions, if you have never been to her place. If you need a ride, I would be happy to give you a lift. Just tell me if you would like to come.

No Bible Study on Sunday 28 of February

Unfortunately we have to cancel our IBSG meeting for next Sunday as Matthias, sonn and Oseias and myself won´t be there. As we could find no one to give the lesson, there will be no Bible Study next Sunday.

He will make chili or something and you don't have to bring anything. But if you insist, he does like nice cheese. Especially soft French cheese. ;-)

But you really don't need to bring anything but yourself.

Thanksgiving

On Friday, November 27, we are eating Thanksgiving Dinner at Johanna's Studentenwohnheim (Dormitory) at 7:00 pm. She lives at the Evangelische Studentenwohnheim across from the aquarium:

It's a great time every year. We will have a great dinner with some time for singing and stuff after that. Please come by and bring a friend. If you bring something to eat, that would be much appreciated. So far we have people bringing turkey, mashed potatoes, Polish carrots, salad, and one dessert. More food would be good - we like to eat everything, especially things from your home country. There is no need to inform us that you're coming. Bring as many people as you want, and bring things to eat with if you can. We have some plates and stuff, but I don't know how many.

News for the Dinner Roulette

Hello everyone,

The dinner roulette will start at 17:00 on Saturday. We will meet at the University Church.
Please write to Matthias, if you want to come. You´ll find his mail in the last post on the dinner roulette. It helps to know how many we need to feed. If you forget to tell us, you can still come.

Now important reminders for thos who are coming or want to come:

1) Bring a bike, if you have one. If not, let Matthias know and he arrange for enough cars for everyone.

2) Bring a plate or bowl, a cup, and eating tools. The people who are serving food do not have enough plates and cuttlery for everyone.

After desert, we usually sing, pray and have some time of fellowship.

This will be really fun and we are all looking forward to see you there!

Dinner Roulette

Hi loving members of the IBSG and the body of Christ.

On Saturday, the 31st of October, we will have our Dinner Roulette. This is a fun event with a lot of fun, food, and fellowship. We meet together and travel to four or five houses and eat something at each house, for example a starter at the first place, soup at the second, and so on. We would love to see you there.

Here's what you need to do:1. Keep the evening of the 31st free.2. Send me an email that you are coming: mpommer2@hotmail.com. If you would like to be one of the stations to serve something, let me also know where you live and what you want to serve.

More information next week when I know who is hosting.

Begrüßungstage im International Center

This Tuesday, 13 of october, and Wednesday, 14 of october, the International Center of the University in Kiel will have an opening for the new international students to welcome them. Different student groups can present themselves to the new students and hand out flyers etc.

We will also have a stand and talk to the students about us. If you want to help us, invite new international students and presenting our group, please meat us at 9:00 in the International Center on Tuesday and/or Wednesday. I am sure you will recognize us and our stand :-)

Please pray that we can reach a lot of new students and invite them to come next Sunday!

Planning Meeting

Tomorrow evening we are having a planning session on what topics and activities we want to do next semester. If you like to help plan this, you are welcome to join us.

We will meet at Sonn´s house in Strande at 20:15. Matthias will drive there with his car and there is still one seat free. If you want to come, please comment until tomorrow afternoon. If more of you want to come, I also have a car and we could go there with two cars. Just let us now early enough.

If you have any ideas, but can´t come, please write us a comment with your suggestions.

Hello, Bonjour, buenos dias,

Are you looking for an English Bible study group and / or Christian Fellowship in Kiel, Germany?
Are you looking for an English-speaking church in Kiel, Germany?
Do you want to meet other Christians from around the world including Germany?
Or perhaps you do not speak and understand German very well and are simply looking for some fellowship and friends?

If you answered "yes" to any of the questions above, you can stop looking. You have found what you are looking for: the International Bible Study Group or IBSG for short.

Is this your first time in Kiel or Germany?
Are you here to study or work?

Well, we are a group of international and German Christians who study, work or simply live in Kiel. We meet every Sunday to pray, sing and praise, and study the Bible. But that is not all. We also do a lot of activities together, such as cycling tours, bowling afternoons, visits to the beach, baking cookies and our famous dinner roulette. Everything is in English and you do not need to speak German.

Throughout the years we have had many members come and go, but one thing is for sure: they came as strangers but left as dear friends. We would love for you to come by and meet us. We meet at the University Church in Westring every Sunday from 13:30 till 16:00. After our time of worship, we always have home-made cakes and some drinks.

Information about our other events will be posted regularly on this blog and you are welcome to simply turn up for them too. We would love to have you there.
